5 weeks old

My little man turned 5 weeks old yesterday!

Maybe I’ll try a format something like this…

Weight/Length: I’m guessing he’s between 7 1/2 – 8 lbs by now, based on his last check up and growth pattern. I don’t think he’s gone over 8 yet. He was almost 19 inches long at 4 weeks. Little peanut! I can’t wait to see how much he’s grown at his 2 month check up! Only a few more weeks!

What he likes: his Rock ‘n Play Sleeper, toys – rings are his favorite, his activity seat with vibration, bright colors, the noise from the washer/dryer/dishwasher, being held and rocked, his pacifier, being sung to, shush sounds, having his hair brushed and head massaged, his bottle/eating, the carseat and taking rides, looking around at everything, and music. He doesn’t have any aversions to people other than Mommy and Daddy, but he likes Mommy best. πŸ™‚

What he doesn’t like: lying flat (crib and cradle), taking a bath, having his nose suctioned, loud noises, bright lights or camera flash, and having gas or hiccups. I don’t think he likes being swaddled anymore. Sleep sacks are awesome.

What he’s up to: He’s awake a lot more throughout the day, not just during feedings. His main activities are eating and pooping. πŸ™‚ We encourage play time more and more, but we try not to overstimulate him. It can make him fussy. He wants to interact and try to grab toys. His eye contact his great. Lots of smiles – a couple times it looked like they were for real and not gas! I think his stomach issues have finally improved a little bit over the past week!! Yay!!

How Mom and Dad are doing: Andy and I went on our first date night last night! It was so hard leaving Graham! I wanted to cry. I knew it would be good for Andy and I to spend some quality time together. We had a nice time! We both remarked it felt like something was missing. It felt weird, yet relaxing. Andy’s Dad watched Graham for a few hours and did a great job, of course. He said Graham was good and hardly fussed! He was really happy to have the chance to spend time with Graham. Even though it went well, I don’t want to do it very often. I would rather spend family time together. It would be nice once and awhile though!

  1. Awesome, Graham is so handsome. I am glad you had a wonderful date and that Graham was good for Grandpa. Let Grandpa sit for you now while Graham is stationary…LOL Once he is on the move, Grandpa may not be that willing to sit for you…hahaha, but I am sure that won’t be the case, that little man is so loved that I think anyone will want to sit for you no matter how much he will wear his sitters out πŸ˜› Seriously, I am glad you had a nice time though. How many times did you check in or want to? Beautiful Family picture too.

  2. How awesome to see you with your little family! You are such a testament to God’s goodness. Graham is too sweet πŸ™‚ I totally understand not liking to leave him – at this early in the game it is SO hard, it will get easier but it does take practice to get used to it!

  3. Oh Lisa! he’s adorable, congratulations you are doing an awesome job, Mom! I know it’s so hard to adjust to a baby. Even one you wanted for so long can still be a huge life adjustment. I felt the same when I had both of my children. Hang in there, it gets easier and it will get better, I promise! If you need anything, message me on TWW. I am here for you!

  4. What a little sweetie! (And a cute family, too!) It’s funny how universally beloved the Rock ‘n’ Plays are — I’m glad I got one as a shower gift. I’m trying to imagine my Beany cat squeezing in alongside the baby!

  5. I could not be more happy for someone who I have never met! Followed your journey on twoweekwait and so very glad you got your own little fella.

I’m curious to know if your training and experience as a nurse is helpful, now, as a mom? Are you less likely to worry about stuff, since you’ve seen it all, and know how to handle things?

    Anyway, enjoy your dude!
