We might be having a baby Friday/Saturday!!

I hit 37 weeks today! Full term!! I’m so thankful to have made it this far! It’s unbelievable!!

I had an OB check up, NST, and then a growth scan with my MFM specialist. My doctors both agree it would be best for Graham to come early. He’s doing okay, it’s just that his growth has slowed and he doesn’t always pass the NSTs.

My doctors were very reassuring. They feel Graham would be healthy and ready to thrive on the outside. It still makes me nervous. This little boy is a champ though! My doctors are great, too. I’m sure I’d still be nervous even if I made it further along.

This Thursday morning, I have to go in for a test that will determine whether or not Graham’s lungs are mature. If they are, I will come back the same night at 10:00pm and be admitted. They will administer a medication inside my cervix to enhance the dilation process.

(If the lung maturity test is borderline, I will return in one week to be induced. My MFM specialist thinks we’ll be ready this Thursday though).

So then Friday, I’ll receive a medication called Pitocin to induce labor. My doctors were adamant about being patient and giving me time to have a vaginal delivery. It could be a long, hard labor, but it will be worth it. I understand I might need a c-section. That is totally okay with me. I mentioned before that I am flexible and just want my baby to arrive safely.

I will update as much as I’m able to. 🙂 I appreciate each and every one of you for following along and being there for me. I can’t even describe the emotions I’m feeling. We are really and truly meeting our son soon!!!! But I also wish I could keep him in my belly! Andy and I both are overflowing with excitement, nerves, happiness, love, tears, worries, and gratefulness.

I’m still kind of in shock! 🙂 I will write more soon, even if it’s just from my phone.

I have been following your journey from even before this pregnancy in silence.

I am so happy for you! I know exactly what your feeling, all the emotions are there! i have had 2 very high risk pregnancies and 2 losts but The moment you have your son in your arms, he will be safe and the new adventure begins!

Ooooh I am all giddy, it feels like Christmas and you are getting the best Present EVER!!!

  6. So happy and excited for you, and glad the nurses and doctors are going to give you plenty of time for a vaginal delivery. I had to tell my nurse ‘no’ when they said I was ready, and took a 2 hour nap instead! I’ll be stalking and hope your labor is quick and easy.

  7. I’ve been following you in tww and your blog for a long time. I’m so excited for you! Sending easy labor vibes when the time is right. I can’t wait to read your birth story and see that beautiful baby boy. 🙂

  8. Lisa, just want to say good luck, congratulations for being full-term and making it so far, and just send my happiest thoughts and wishes to you! So excited that it is almost time for him to make his grand entrance! Will be thinking of you lots over the next few days!

  9. Sounds like things are moving along!! Good luck!!

Looking at your hospital bag list – you’ve got it mostly covered, but a couple suggestions from experience:

    – snacks and juice for Andy (he won’t want to leave to get healthy food and most hospital cafeterias have limited hours and options which get old fast)
    – look at a c-section hospital bag list and see if there is anything else you would want in that case to be comfy after surgery

  10. I have been waiting to hear about this day with you for a long time. I am so so glad that it is finally here. There is nothing more amazing than that first moment you hear the baby you have been waiting forever for cry! I can’t wait to hear all about it and see his cute little face.

  11. I am so excited for you! Congrats on making it to full term. It is good that you are flexible and open to C-section. I was supposed to deliver naturally but ended up with an emergency C-section, but I had no regrets! Like what you said, baby’s safety is way more important than the birth experience.

  12. So stinkin excited when I read this on FB and just as excited reading it here!!! Can’t wait to hear what’s gonna happen!! If you get admitted tonight… take LOTS of photos b/c the entire experience is gonna seem so surreal later on thinking back to it lol.
